The New Year is under way and could this finally be the year we get a new album from Tool? Could a full fledged US tour follow? Here’s a look at what we know (or hope) is coming from some of your favorite rock artists in 2017.

Albums:

Tool– I’m aware it’s been 11 years and they’re slow workers…but this has to be the year it happen…maybe….

Stone Sour- It’s been four years since Corey Taylor released something with his other band, so the time is right for this to happen.

System of a Down- Fans, us included, got really excited when drummer John Dalmayan confirmed last summer that the band were working on new material, their first in a decade.

Linkin Park-They’ve been working on this album for over a year, have been teasing up a storm on social media, this one is going to happen, I just know it.

Soundgarden- It’s been five years since King Animal, but with a tour this spring all signs point to a new album.

Marilyn Manson- He has said that the album, Say10, would be out on Valentine’s Day, but there’s been no official confirmation of that.

Seether- There’s a countdown on the band’s website leading to February 17th, which likely means either a new single or a new album will be out that day.

Thirty Seconds to Mars- Jared Leto and company announced last August that a new album was coming in 2017 and he’s been teasing fans with snapchats from recording sessions.

Tours:

Red Hot Chili Peppers- It’s been a while since the group has done an extensive North American tour, and they’re making up for it with a 58-date run that starts Thursday in San Antonio, Texas, they will stop at the Scottrade Center in St. Louis on Wednesday, Jan. 18th and will have a summer stop in Chicago on June 30th.

Guns n’ Roses- the Axl Rose, Slash and Duff McKagan reunion continues into a second year, with another North American stadium run that starts July 27th in St. Louis at The Dome At America’s Center.

Soundgarden- They’re headlining multiple festivals this spring, with a fall tour expected when their album is done.

Metallica- It’s been a long time since they’ve done a proper North American tour. Rumor mill is rampant that they’ll tour since they are touring over seas, if it happens, this will be HUGE!

Avenged Sevenfold-They’re going all-out with the production for the tour behind The Stage. They’ve hired people that work with Cirque du Soleil to design their production.

Smashing Pumpkins- The rumors keep circulating that Billy Corgan will reunite the original lineup.

Now you tell me, what are you hoping to see/hear in 2017?
