Please ignore my resting bitch face; I’m just exhausted mentally and physically, trust me my gratitude cannot even be put into words, I’m honestly still trying to absorb the past few days and comprehend it all. I’m overwhelmed with the love and generosity from my family, friends and complete strangers and its left me with this blank stare (resting bitch face) because it’s just so much to take in.

When I began fundraising for the 2015 St. Jude Run I really believed that there was no way I was going to raise what I did last year ($7645) so I set my sights low at $5,000 I really had no idea that I would double that amount and bring in $10,000 for St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital. I’m so honored to not only receive the Top Fundraiser Award from the Chicago group but also beyond touched to get the Art Hart Runner of the Year Award. Art Hart was one of the first runners/organizers of the Chicago To Peoria run and up until 5 years ago he did it all (he’s about 70 years old now); running, fundraising, organizing, driving RV’s, he did it all so the award was created and named after him and given to a runner that they feel “exemplifies what St. Jude is about” and this year they chose to give it to me.

I’m so honored and speechless that the organizers and team captains felt I deserved this award this year. All I can say is that my passion that goes into fundraising is because I believe in what St. Jude does. I know what it’s like to hear you have cancer and to bear the financial burden and the gift that St. Jude gives; no cost treatment, transportation, food & lodging…there isn’t words and the impact is truly something you cannot understand until you’ve been hit with a catastrophic illness. I’m honored and humbled and still shocked from the whole experience this year. Thank you!

I accept this award not on behalf of myself but for you, all I did was ask (sometimes beg and a little hounding too) but you did the big thing and that was GIVE (even if it was to shut me up) YOU…chose to donate. This is for you!

I can’t wait till next year but I’m glad I don’t have to ask for any more money for a while and I’m sure you’re glad you don’t have to hear me beg for it anymore either lol. Thank You!
