ON THIS DATE IN 1975 IN THE SUNNY SO CAL TOWN OF FONTANA A LIL PUNK WAS BORN BY THE NAE OF TRAVIS BARKER…THE FUTURE DRUMMER GOT HIS FIRST KIT FROM HIS MOM AT JUST 4 YEARS OLD AND IT WAS THE ONLY ONE HE WOULD HAVE UNTIL HE WAS 15. HE STARTED DRUM LESSONS AT 5 YEARS OLD, BUT ALSO TOOK TRUMPET AND PIANO AND JOINED THE MADRIGALS IN HIGH SCHOOL TO TRY HIS HAND AT SINGING FOR A MINUTE…WHILE BARKER WAS ALL ABOUT THE MUSIC, HE DID SET HIS SIGHTS ON BECOMING A PRO SURFER AND SKATEBOARDERS, BUT HE ALWAYS MADE HIS WAY BACK TO THE DRUM KIT. AFTER HIGH SCHOOL GRADUATION, HE WORKED AS A TRASH MAN AND PLAYED WITH THE PUNK BAND SNOT AND FEEBLE AND THAT IS WHERE HE MET CHAD LARSON, THE CO FOUNDER OF THE SKA PUNK GROUP THE AQUABATS AND SOON, THEY RECRUITED BARKER IN THE MID 90’S AND WHEN THE GROUP TOURED WITH A BAND NAMED BLINK 182 IN 1997, BARKER STEPPED IN TO HELP THEMOUT BECAUSE THEIR DRUMMER HAD BACKED OUT MID TOUR AND BARKER NAILED IT BY LEARNING THE 20 SONG SET LIST IN JUST 45 MINUTES BEFORE SHOW AND THE REST IS HISTORY… HE IS ONE OF THE BEST DRUMMERS OF OUR GENERATION AND IF YOU GET THE CHANCE TO SEE BLINK 182 LIVE, DO IT!
