A DUTCH BORN GUITAR PRODIGY WHO MOVED TO CALIFORNIA WITH HIS FAMILY WHEN HE WAS JUST 7 YEARS OLD WOULD BECAME ONE OF THE GREATEST ROCK ICONS, EVAH! EDDIE VAN HALEN… HE AND HIS OLDER BROTHER ALEX FORMED THEIR FIRST BAND IN GRADE SCHOOL, CALLING THEMSELVES THE BROKEN COMBS,  PERFORMING FOR THE FIRST TIME IN THE LUNCHROOM AT HAMILTON ELEMENTARY SCHOOL WHEN EDDIE WAS IN THE 4TH GRADE.  WELL KNOWN FOR POPULARIZING THE TAPPING GUITAR SOLO TECHNIQUE, EDDIE REVOLUTIONIZED ROCK GUITAR AND INFLUENCED MANY GENRES OF MUSIC…HE WAS A MUSICIAN’S MUSICIAN AND CROSSED GENRES,  EVEN PLAYING A SOLO ON MICHAEL JACKSON’S “BEAT IT” OFF THE 1982 THRILLER ALBUM.  HE ALSO PLAYED KEYBOARD AND HIS MULTI INSTRUMENTAL SKILLZ WERE FRONT AND CENTER IN VAN HALEN’S SONG “JUMP”, THE LEAD SINGLE OFF THE NOW LEGENDARY ALBUM “1984” RELEASED IN DECEMBER OF 1983….AFTER A BATTLE WITH CANCER, EDDIE VAN HALEN DIED 3 YEARS AGO TODAY, BUT HIS AMAZING LEGACY LIVES ON …IT’S ROXY’S ROCK REWIND…ON 105.7 THE X….TURN IT UP AND “JUMP”
