AUSTRALIAN ROCKERS AC/DC SUFFERED THE UNTIMELY DEATH OF THEIR LEAD SINGER BON SCOTT TO ALCOHOL POISOINING IN 1979, JUST 7 MONTHS AFTER THE RELEASE OF HIGHWAY TO HELL, THEIR BREAKTHROUGH ALBUM. WHILE THE BAND CONSIDERED CALLING IT QUITS, SCOTT’S PARENTS URGED THEM TO CONTINUE ON. SO, THEY RECRUITED ENGLISH SINGER BRIAN JOHNSON AS THEIR NEW FRONTMAN AND THEIR FIRST ALBUM WITH HIM AT THE MIC WAS DEDICATED TO SCOTT’S MEMORY. ON THIS DATE IN 1980, AC/DC EARNED THEIR FIRST UK NUMBER ONE ALBUM WITH BACK IN BLACK AND IT WENT ON TO BECOME THE SECOND HIGHEST SELLING ALBUM OF ALL TIME AND IT HAS STOOD THE TEST OF TIME! “BACK IN BLACK” ~ROXY
