Sad news to report in the world of Rock N’ Roll. Legendary Rolling Stones drummer Charlie Watts has passed away at the age of 80. Charlie pioneered 60 years of amazing drumming in the world’s biggest Rock band. Watt’s publicist Bernard Doherty said Watts, “passed away peacefully in a London hospital earlier today surrounded by his family.” He continued, “Charlie was a cherished husband, father, and grandfather, and also as a member of the Rolling Stones one of the greatest drummers of his generation.” Watts had recently pulled out of the 2021 Rolling Stones tour, citing health issues. A legend of drumming, there are scores of Rolling Stones songs that come to mind, huge hits, amazing album cuts, all the while, holding down that drum stool, with unshakeable presence. A sad day indeed in the world of Rock N’ Roll. Listen up for tributes on the air all day.
RIP Charlie.
