We’ve always said Illinois is home to the best rock fans and soon we may have our own Rock N Roll Hall Of Fame featuring our home grown artists.

Producer Ron Romero has set up a 501 C3 non-profit and acquired a building along historic route 66 in Joliet. There are plans for three stories of displays, a performance space, a gift shop and an online radio station. Romero says “I want patrons to realize how important Illinois is to music around the world. The music that was produced here really touched the world.” Romero is seeking artifacts from musicians and fans along with ash donations to complete the $6 million project. Plus nominations are going on now too, simply go here to their facebook page and nominate your favorite Illinois artist.

The state that produced Chicago, Sam Cooke, Cheap Trick, REO Speedwagon, Styx, Curtis Mayfield, Mudvayne, Disturbed, Chevelle and many others.  Illinois was also home to Ray Manzarek of The Doors, singer-songwriter Dan Fogelberg and Chess Records, the home of Chuck Berry and Muddy Waters, was based in Chicago.
