Former Van Halen bass player, Michael Anthony, has confirmed on his Instagram account that he was recently interviewed for a new Van Halen documentary. The new documentary is in production now, and apparently former members and current members of Van Halen are in the mix as the story of the band is being told. “Filmed an interview today for a Van Halen documentary in the works”, said Anthony this past week. “Brought up many great memories! I’ll let you know when it will air.” Michael Anthony was the main bass player and original bass player in the band from 1974-2004. He was dismissed by Edward and Alex Van Halen in 2005 after their ill fated last tour with Sammy Hagar. Anthony and Hagar are friends, and apparently, that was an annoyance to the Van Halen Brothers, who kicked him out with their ongoing battles with Hagar.

The story of Van Halen is one of the most discussed, and most debated in Rock history. The David Lee Roth years and those amazing first six albums, and then the ‘Van Hagar’ years with number one albums, commercial songs and ballads in the mix. Van Halen fans debate it constantly, what era was better? Roth has been back in the band since 2006. Van Halen has sold out arenas and stadiums on three big tours with Roth, and have produced one critically acclaimed album with Dave in 2012, “A Different Kind Of Truth.” However, Dave and the Brothers continue to have their differences, as Roth pushed for Anthony to return to the band, even though Wolfgang Van Halen has been in on bass since 2006. Drama, right? So, hopefully this new documentary is a truthful story, and one that has all of the members involved. Running with the devil, indeed!
