Green Day ‘Sorry’ For Performing At Music Festival In Spain After Acrobat Death

Billie Joe Armstrong and the guys in Green Day are pretty upset guys today. This past Friday, while in Spain at the “Mad Cool Festival”, they performed their regular set in front of thousands of concert goers, and nothing seemed amiss. However, they were completely unaware that many in the audience were upset that the band played, after thousands witnessed the death of an acrobat artist named ‘Pedro’, who fell a hundred feet to his death performing an acrobat routine on stage, just prior to Green Day taking the stage. The band was nowhere near the stage at the time of the accident, and the concert organizers didn’t give the band a heads up on the tragedy. Green Day was told of a ‘security’ issue, but not told someone had passed away.

The band only found out about the tragedy AFTER they left the stage, and after performing their entire set. The band TWEETED the following, “We just got offstage at Mad Cool Festival to disturbing news. A very brave artist named Pedro lost his life tonight in a tragic accident.” Billie Joe said as well after the show to the media, “If we had known prior to our performance, we most likely wouldn’t have played at all. We are not heartless people.”  Very true. The blame, is any here, should be on the organizers. However, they felt that if they had cancelled the show, they would have a bigger security issue. It looks like the band disagrees, and would have rather not performed on Friday. Prayers go out to Pedro’s family and friends, a sad situation for sure.
