Axl, Slash, and Duff McKagen of Guns N’ Roses all had personal friendships with fellow Rocker Chris Cornell, who, as we all know, passed away this past month. On May 27th, Guns N’ Roses performed in Ireland, at the legendary Slane Castle, in front of 80,000 fans. At that performance, the band performed ‘Black Hole Sun’, as a tribute to Cornell. Axl Rose introduced the song, with the following comment, “We wish we were doing it, of course, under much better circumstances, but this man was loved.” After the band ended the song, Axl was heard saying on mic, “For Chris.” A video recording of the performance has surfaced online.
Chris Cornell was laid to rest this past Friday at a private memorial service in Hollywood at the Hollywood Forever Cemetery in Los Angeles.
