IN THE EARLY 90’S THE SEATTLE SOUND OF GRUNGE ROCK WAS BLOWING UP AND BABY BAND,  ‘MOOKIE BLAYLOCK’, NAMED AFTER THE FORMER NATIONAL BASKETBALL ASSOICIATION PLAYER WAS FORMED IN 1990 BY 3 DUDES…JEFF AMENT, STONE GOSSARD, AND MIKE MCREADY, BUT THEY NEEDED A FRONTMAN. MEANWHILE IN SOUTHERN CALIFORNIA AN ILLINOIS BORN MUSICIAN WORKING PART TIME AT A GAS STATION WHO BEFRIENDED RED HOT CHILI PEPPERS DRUMMER JACK IRONS WAS GIVEN A DEMO TAPE OF THAT SEATTLE BAND “MOOKIE BLAYLOCK” CAUSE THEY WERE LOOKING FOR A FRONTMAN…THAT GAS STATION WORKING MUSICIAN WAS EDDIE VEDDER…HE WENT ON TO RECORD VOCALS FOR THE 3 SONGS ON THE INSTRUMENTAL DEMO TAPE AND MAILED IT BACK TO SEATTLE TO ‘MOOKIE BLAYLOCK’ WHO WOULD CHANGE THEIR NAME TO PEARL JAM AFTER SIGNING WITHA MAJOR LABEL…THOSE THREE SONGS WOULD LATER BECOME TRACKS ON THEIR FIRST ALBUM “TEN” …THAT WAS BLAYLOCK’S JERSEY NUMBER…ON THIS DAY IN ROCK HISTORY, ONE EDDIE VEDDER WAS SELECTED AS LEAD VOCALIST FOR WHAT WOULD BECOME ONE OF THE BIGGEST BANDS IN HISTORY AND AN INSTRUMENTAL PART IN THE GRUNGE ROCK MOVEMENT…ONCE UPON A TIME EDDIE VEDDER WAS JUST A STRUGGLING MUSICIAN WORKING AT A GAS STATION…ONE OF THOSE 3 SONGS THAT HELPED PUT HIM IN FRONT OF THE MIC IN WHAT WAS TO BECOME ONE FO THE BIGGEST BANDS OF ALL TIME…’ALIVE’…IT’S ROXY’S ROCK REWIND ON 105.7 THE X
