I keep getting asked about my come to Jesus moment with Jared Leto and I tried going facebook live but my stupid iphone sound is jacked up, so you have to read about it…for those of you who care, I’m sure its mostly the girls and fellow Jared worshipers.
I wasn’t part of the big Thirty Seconds To Mars fan meet & greet, which I am pretty happy about (except I didn’t get to meet J’s big bro Shannon and I’m seriously heartbroken over it) because I was part of a group of about 8 people (fellow radio peeps) and Jared just comes out and straight up chills out and chats with us. He was so very cool and down to earth, normal and non Hollywood, totally got the feels that he doesn’t take himself seriously and it brought my respect for him to a new level.
First, Jared is straight up people of Walmart. He walks out wearing a bright pink cardigan that has black palm trees on the elbows, a bright yellow TS2M tee, green track suit pants that has some weird ass designs on them (see below pictures), tops it off with navy blues socks with large orange and grey polka dots and his shoes are like a half crock/slide sandals. I’m assuming this dress style is all about his Gucci endorsement and he just owns it. A lady in our group had on this long flowering kimono and he says to her “I like this, it looks like something I would wear.” I think he’s just trying to make himself not attractive…Jared…yeah it doesn’t work you’re still pretty. It’s the eyes…girls…just as piercing and blue in person, they hit ya right in the lady region. Now, given his look you would think he smells like people of Walmart and nope he doesn’t, he smells like fresh cotton just from the dryer, so yeah Jared doesn’t have BO. Only bummer, Shannon didn’t come to our meet and greet, I wanna know what crazy eyebrows looks like in person.
The conversation…
Jared starts introducing himself to everyone and starts talking about where they were and his plan to go rock climbing at some place in the Ozarks and that was when some asked if he watched the show. He said he did and also told us he watched the Staircase recently and here’s the part I loved. He says, “Ya know the cool thing about being a celebrity”, and he shakes his head, rolls his eyes and follows it with, “and I use that term loosely because I hate it, but after episode two I’m texting Jason Bateman asking him what the hell is going on man.” I just got the feeling the way he said it and refereed to his status that he just doesn’t think of himself as Hollywood or a big deal, just someone doing what he loves. I’ve met plenty of rockstars, none as famous as JL (they haven’t won an Oscar) and only a few were as laid back as Jared, so I was impressed.
The sunnies…
Yeah…I looked like a stalker hahaha but I told Jared about the endorsement with Bond Eye Associates and how they did my lasik and how they hooked me up with his sunglasses. He joked back with me, “That’s funny, I used to have an endorsement with Carrera and they gave me those sunglasses too!” He asked about my lasik, if I liked it and how my vision was now. I like that he actually listens to people to try and have a conversation and not just be this fan/celebrity thing. He does very well at it. So I asked for a selfie with him so I could do a ‘who wore it better’ he says “I don’t know if I have them with me.” and here’s where Anna becomes a stalker “You do, I saw them.” (OMG I AM SUCH AN IDIOT…he totally thinks I’m a stalker). He did laugh at me tho and asked how I knew he had them with and I said I saw them on him hahaha. Gawd…hi I am a loser. After, that I was so nervous from sounding like a psychopath I was shaking like a leaf for the selfie and it turned out like ass 🙁 Also, you can be the judge, here’s the pic or its on my facebook page in all its craptastic, blurry, glory, here.
He took photos with everyone, shook hands, thanked us for the support and then that was it. The show was awesome, I really like how Jared really try’s to make sure every fan there has a personal experience. However, I kinda wish he would tone down some of the interaction and crowd singing and play a few more songs. They have been around for so long now that they have a ton of great tunes and I’d rather hear more of the songs from them than the crowd. My only other negative is that it seems so weird on stage now without Tomo, the stage is just too empty with just Jared and Shannon, they do great with it and make it work, I just feel Jared is so good at what he does, they can do better. I think they need to make Stevie a part of the show more and not just off to the side so it looks and feels like a band. The set up now makes it feel like there is just backing vocals and music when really Stevie is there. I get why it is that way, but I miss the shows where Jared straps on a guitar and shows us all his talents. Overall I still loved it, but I’m always honest and a tells it like it is person.
Last, I think we need get Thirty Seconds To Mars to Peoria…after all I still need to meet Shannon and we need to have a cup of coffee together…guess that’s my next goal now that the meet Jared Leto mission has been accomplished.
