During the ‘Grammy’s’ last Monday night, there were some amazing tributes to various musicians who passed away in 2015 and early 2016. The Eagles surviving members with Jackson Browne, and their tribute to Glen Frey was one of those moments. Lady Ga-ga and her tribute to David Bowie was another. And then there was Dave Grohl. Grohl, who was brought up to introduce the ‘Hollywood Vampires’, the new super group with Alice Cooper, Joe Perry, and Johnny Depp, paid tribute to Lemmy Kilmister from Motorhead before that introduction, but it just about didn’t happen as we found out this weekend.
The ‘Grammy’s’ producer, Ken Ehrlich, admitted this past weekend that he ‘didn’t have alot of Motorhead on my I-Pad. The metal-heads have Dave Grohl to thank for that (the tribute), because when I asked Dave if he would introduce that segment, he said, “I’ll do it-if you do something for Lemmy.” And there you go. Grohl paid tribute to his friend, and metal icon. Dave said the following, “Many of us play Rock N’ Roll, but a rare few among us are Rock N’ Roll. Lemmy was Rock N’ Roll. He was a rebel, and outsider, one of a kind, and a way of life. He was Motorhead. He was a legend and I was proud to call him my friend.” Leave it Dave Grohl, once again, showing us why he is our ‘Ambassador of Rock’, by getting the Lemmy tribute on the national broadcast. Nice work, dude!
