Bahan’s Top 5 Resurrection Artists-#2, INXS
I typically catch hell for my love of INXS. I don’t really give a rats ass because I experienced this band live, twice in one year. They were of the 80′s and early 90′s, and while I was a young dude, there wasn’t a cooler band. INXS was that rare breed of band that blended new wave, funk and R&B, hard rock, and dance music all in one sound. Their early albums, “Shabooh Shabah”, “The Swing”, “Listen Like Thieves”, and then “Kick” all sounded completely different. They were cutting edge between 1984 and 1988.
By the end of their run, they had sold out stadiums worldwide, sold over 50 million albums, and had multiple top five hit singles. Their lead singer, Michael Hutchence, was clearly one of the biggest rock stars on the planet for over a decade. Sadly, this band ended with Michael’s surprise death in 1997. I get somewhat pissed that this band doesn’t get more credit. Nobody has managed to blend R&B Funk with Hard Rock, and do it so well. These guys have influenced legions of bands, just listen to MUSE, Finger Eleven, even the Red Hot Chili Peppers, they can all say thank you to INXS. So, while not a blazing metal act, I am man enough to admit that I dig the hell out of INXS. Plus, no one got laid more than Michael Hutchence. Check out this awesome live video from INXS, and enjoy the Resurrection this weekend on X!
