Late September of last year friends of mine (former owners of SOP’s) put together a super fun event a pub crawl where we ride our bikes, the pedal kind, on the Rock Island Trail, visit bars along the way and just enjoy the fun and local businesses that Central Illinois has to offer. Well, our friend event went over so well and garnered so much attention they decided to do it again and make it an annual event to help under privileged kids in Central Illinois receive bicycles of their own. That is how the Beers And Gears Pub Crawl was born and Saturday, May 21st will be our first organized ride for the Build-A-Bike program with Bike Peoria.
I’ve done it so trust me when I say there is not a better way to spend a Saturday afternoon than riding a bicycle and making a few stops along the way. This year the pub-crawl will start at Peoria Brewing Company with registration from 12:30P.M. til 1:00P.M. and the we will be making our way every hour on the hour to downtown Peoria.
Stops include:
Peoria Brewing Company (1 – 2 PM)
Fox Pub (2 – 3 PM)
Tavern on Prospect (3 – 4 PM)
Publik House (4 – 5 PM)
New Amsterdam (5 – 6 PM)
Transportation back to Peoria Brewing company will be provided, for free from 4PM – 8PM.
There will also be some great gifts available to bid on and a fun take on a 50/50 raffle.
The event cost is either $10 or a donated bicycle (old or new)
This year the Beers and Gears Pub-Crawl will benefit the Build-A-Bike program that is put on by Bike Peoria. This program teaches kids how to build a bicycle and their reward is to keep the bike that they build! All proceeds of this event will go to making sure this program is a large success and that we can put as many bicycles into the hands of kids and adults that need them.

I hope to see you at the event, we had a blast last year and can’t wait to see this grow.
